Jan 6 DID happen...
The next best thing to being there in person is to watch via Twitter and FB and YouTube. I regularly subscribe to channels who are independent listener supported media rather than corporate media.
When DJT won the 2016 election, I was in complete shock along with many others! How could that happen?!?!?!? I recall watching Cher tweeting daily about what an awful choice he would be as president. She said if he won, she’d leave the planet and go live on the moon. I never dreamed he would win the election (I didn’t think people would stoop that low), so I didn’t feel it was vital for me to cast my vote since I didn’t care for Hillary. Since I turned 18 and became legal to vote, I have voted in every presidential election—2016 was the first time I didn’t. I vowed to never let that happen again. I believe many others were of a similar mindset. I was on Twitter tweeting frantically for people to realize that just about every time Donald opened his mouth out came a lie. He was fact checked daily and several times a day and he fell short of telling the TRUTH about anything. I don’t think it’s part of his psyche and/or nature to be truthful in all things he says and does. Sadly, the consequences of his lies about the election being stolen brought an angry mob of protestors to the Capital in their effort to “stop the electoral college votes from being counted by Congress. He lost all sixty court cases challenging the results of the election. The courts tossed out all sixty cases citing they saw no evidence that would have resulted in any district’s election results being overturned. Meanwhile, his “advisors” kept pushing him to do something because they continued to claim the election had been STOLEN from him. Trump then began to tweet about Jan 6th saying ‘be there, it will be WILD! One of his followers Jack Prosobeic (sp?) posted a video showing another country’s “Revolution,” with the suggestion that’s what “we could do” meaning Trump and his supporters. Trump retweeted it and when I saw it I knew in my gut something bad was going to happen on Jan 6th. My intuition has always been pretty right on 98-99% of the time and it was then. There was a constant build up of tension like water building up at a damn about to overflow by everyone tweeting. Then on that day, my gut was really churning and I kept signing into my account to get any updates. Trump was constantly in my feed and I saw his comments about Mike Pence. Tweeting “Mike didn’t have enough courage to do the right thing.” (Right thing only from Trump’s perspective.) It was that tweet that led to a huge escalation at the capitol as rioters began to climb the walls and use anything they could get their hands on to break through the windows. I saw the guillotine with the sign “hang Mike Pence” as rioters chanted the same. It was feeling like the same kind of national terror the nation felt during the 9-11 attacks on the twin towers. It was terrifying to watch it unfolding before my eyes on the news channels and on my social media.
I kept waiting for Trump to make an announcement for the raging out of control mob to stop. I will never forget seeing members of Congress laying huddled on the floor as the rioters tried to break through the doors.
Throughout those next few hours as Trump was radio silent, congressional offices were being broken into and property was being damaged throughout the building. No one ever mentions it, but President-elect Biden got on television calling for Trump to call off the rioters. Within minutes of Biden’s plea, Trump FINALLY got on TV and began telling the rioters to be peaceful and go home. I was disgusted by the things he was saying like “I now you’re disappointed, we love you blah blah blah. Then and only then did the rioters begin to disassemble and leave the building after beating capital police, damaging government property paid for by tax payers, smearing feces on walls and urinating inside the building. Everyone knows how the day ended with Congress being called back in to certify the Electoral College votes showing that Joe Biden clearly won the election. Since then, Trump and his maga supporters have continued to say the election was stolen. Now anyone saying it wasn’t stolen is subject to the wrath of Trump.
Trump laid the foundation of the “stolen election” lie as he began campaigning for 2020. His deceased and disgraced former attorney, Roy Cohn, taught him this strategy among several others.
